Mother Naomi Scott
Stepping into the house Mother Scott’s built is a powerful experience. If it’s your first time or your every day, that overwhelming feeling of investment and sacrifice will wash over you.

-I don’t think. I know for certain. That’s my heartbeat — children.
-Be nosy; come on in and see what we do here.
-If this is the time, this is what I’ve been singing about.
-I tried to be the best that I could but I feel that the bigger job is ahead of us.
-So, here we are.
To me, I’m a servant of Jesus Christ. I was called for this time to be doing just what I’m doing. I wish sometimes I was in Florida or on a long vacation. But see, the need here is greater than the beaches and all those kinds of things. So, with my life, I’m a servant to my people. Anybody that’s around me that I can help, that’s what I’m gonna do.
I feel, every day, a connection to my purpose. If I have problems, I’m so deeply connected that if I say, “Forget this. I’m old.” And people ask, “When are you going to retire?” That day? I’m more connected than ever. The holy spirit let’s me know.
And sometimes when I get sick, I say, “Maybe this is my time? Maybe this is going to be the last week or day or something?” But then I come down here and get to working! And I get home and I have so many visions — new things come to my mind and I’m inspired. They say, “You got more energy than we have!” But that’s because of the connection to what it is I’m supposed to be doing.
I know. It’s an inspiration. I can’t always explain it unless somebody’s seeking or has a little touch of it.
Over here, we do five and a half, sometimes seven days a week feeding people. Just feeding. I’ve done everything I could to keep it going. I even sold my home and didn’t see a dime of it. Because I know when I leave here, I ain’t gonna take nothing nowhere, so I might as well use it. You know your pride’s always gonna try to get to you and be ashamed, but honey, I learned how to walk tall. But I’m sayin’ — sometimes when we don’t have enough food, somebody done brought everything up in here we needed to eat. From the spices, meats, the bread — everything the cooks need to feed these people. And I know, if I had the money, I wouldn’t be able to do like that. Because the first thing I’d do is give it away to all these folks. So, He just showed me that “I called you and don’t you stop no matter what anybody say.”
I started the church part in ’87 as a woman pastor. I had a problem with the brothers that didn’t want me to do that. Some of those that didn’t, now they’re saying how wonderful it is that I disobeyed. So when you know that you know you know, don’t let nobody stop you. Always remember that. What it is in this life that you know God is calling you to do, physically or spiritually — if God says he’s going to bring you out of it. And it’s time now.
